Would you like to teach English and help migrants in Marlborough to integrate into our culture? English Language Partners trains thousands of volunteers across NZ to provide one-to-one ESOL home tutoring in homes. The Marlborough branch is currently recruiting for the March intake.
Volunteers are paired with a learner and arrange to meet on a regular basis for approximately an hour at a time. During these in-home meetings, tutors and learners practice conversational English in relation to a variety of activities and settings. Along the way, the learner will also learn about NZ culture and customs from the tutor. In addition, as a tutor, you may also have the opportunity to learn about other languages and cultures.
Prior teaching/tutoring experience is not necessary but it will be beneficial.
Volunteer tutors are not required to be fluent in a language other than English, but this may help.
Volunteers of any age are welcome to apply.
Full training is provided.
Next Home Tutor trainings (you will need to attend all three): Saturday 27th April, Saturday 4th May, Saturday 11th May. All three sessions start at 9am and end at 4pm.
Volunteers are asked to contribute $40 to the printing on resources, and training.
