You will lead our RDA horses during riding sessions as we teach new skills and abilities to our riders who may have physical, intellectual, emotional and social challenges. Riding at RDA has many benefits including enhancing self-esteem, building confidence and increasing communication and concentration skills.
You will need to be physically fit as you will be on your feet, sometimes on uneven ground, for most of the shift. You will also need a good command of English language.
We operate Monday to Friday from 9 till 1pm during the school terms, volunteers can do 2 or 4 hour shifts. This role requires you to complete a Police check prior to starting as a volunteer.
PLEASE NOTE – this volunteering takes place a 20 minute walk from the nearest bus stop.
All training is provided through Hamilton RDA. We may offer other training towards NZQA recognised unit standards.
