This role is ideally based in Wellington and reports to the Head of Network technology.
You and your team are responsible for the technical design and integrity of New Zealand’s national broadband network.
This is an engineering leadership role overseeing the decisions for selection of solutions to meet the needs of, and solve the problems within Chorus’ networks. Detailed technologies in your remit include access networks (GPON, DSL, WiFi), DWDM networks, Microwave radio networks, Ethernet aggregation networks, voice systems, EMS/OSS supporting systems, tools, scripts and data analytics.
You will lead and co-ordinate the research, creation, update and maintenance of engineering solutions for the Chorus network. You will directly & indirectly manage a team of highly technical network design engineers. Together you will be key consultants to the business, customers and external stakeholders on technical matters in relation to the solutions, designs and documentation created and managed.

- Leadership and development of technical teams;
- Proven ability to communicate and engage with senior stakeholders.
Design and delivery of Telco infrastructure
- Hands on detailed design of network solutions and services;
- Deployment of network solutions;
- Integration of networks with management and other northbound systems.
- Relevant Tertiary qualifications;
- Industry certifications and training for generic technology and specific vendor equipment.
Skills and Knowledge
- Problem solving;
- Commercial judgement;
- Strong communication skills both written and oral;
- Ability to translate business objectives to technical solutions;
- Negotiating skills;
- Technical Leadership and virtual team building, ability to maintain relationships and manage diversity.
