About the role:
Plumbing World has created a new role of National Inventory Controller to work with our network of branches and suppliers to plan and implement improvements to our stock management practices.
 
The role has a variety of responsibilities that will keep you on engaged.
 
Our day-to-day stock management is managed directly within the branch network.   You will work in our procurement team to undertake analysis of our stock and make recommendations to optimise our holdings across the network through advising on re-order practices, system settings and working alongside the branch inventory controllers to reduce excess and slow-moving stock.  You will also take responsibility for our expanding bulk buying programme and train and coach staff who are new to stock management roles.
 
To be successful, you will need to be able to extract, analyse and interpret the data, then have great communication skills to work with branch staff and suppliers to develop and implement strategies to improve our position.  You will also have proven ability to implement change and or procedures that result in business and operations improvements, preferably with a stock management focus.
 
With 50 branches across New Zealand, the role has a requirement for a small amount of domestic travel.
 
Skills and experience:

  • Experience in stock management/replenishment
  • Attention to detail / analytical mind to identify anomalies/errors
  • High level of interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Packages
  • Ability to work, coach, and mentor
  • Full, clean driver’s licence
  • Experience of implementation of new ways of working
